ART EXHIBITION 2026
Jane Mackay: Painting Britten
29 July – 7 August 2026, St Endellion Hall

Jane Mackay, A Charm of Lullabies, op. 41, watercolour
This year we are delighted to welcome our first Festival Artist-in-Residence, Jane Mackay, with a solo exhibition marking 50 years since the death of Benjamin Britten.
Jane Mackay: Painting Britten celebrates the extraordinary creative dialogue between composer Benjamin Britten and artist Jane Mackay. Marking 50 years since Britten’s death, the exhibition honours both the composer’s legacy and the enduring power of music to spark new artistic worlds.
Jane Mackay experiences synaesthesia, perceiving intense colours, textures and forms when listening to music. Her lifelong fascination with Britten finds expression in vivid paintings that transform music into colour, movement and form, exploring a rich interplay of abstraction and figuration.
The exhibition is open before and during concerts throughout the Festival.
